Responsibilities
Tasks
- Assemble mechanical parts into subassemblies
- Assemble, fit and install prefabricated parts to form subassemblies or finished products
- Read blueprints to determine work requirements
- Assemble or connect electrical components
- Position, align and adjust parts for proper fit and assembly
- Connect cables, tubes and wires
- Operate automated assembling equipment
- Fasten parts together using fastening and joining equipment
- Operate or tend automated assembling equipment
- Operate small cranes to transport or position larger parts
- Inspect finished products for proper functioning
- Check mechanical assemblies and subassemblies for alignment and proper functioning
- Make minor adjustments and repairs
- Report any malfunctions to supervisor
- Prepare bills of lading, invoices and other shipping documents
- Pack goods to be shipped
- Open valves and start pumps
- Report on structural, component or system failures
- Inspect products at various stages of processing to ensure adherence to specifications
- Inspect products to determine the requirements for repair
- Conduct training sessions
- Provide customer service
- Install major components such as gears, pumps, motors or hydraulic assemblies
- Arrange for shipping documentation and the tracking and tracing of goods in transit
- Conduct or supervise the installation, commissioning, and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems
